Mini-tennis at Chatsworth House - Years 3 & 4 - came 2nd in their Mini Tennis group.


From now until the end of term, our school will be taking part in the 100 Mile Challenge, run by Active Cumbria and New Balance. For more information please see the document above.

Lanercost Cross Country, Saturday 25th March from 10.15am

Please make your own way to and from the event. The first cross country race will start at 10.30am prompt in the field adjacent to Lanercost Cricket Club. 

Cars should be parked either in the Lanercost School or Lanercost Tea Room car parks or along the road side. If the weather is good and the Priory Garth field is dry we may also park here. Please ensure that no entrances for local residents are blocked.

The races are to be held in the field adjacent ot the Cricket Club by kind permission of Phillip Howard and the farmer Mr Graham. 

Race Yr R/1/2 - 10.30am

Race Yr 3/4 - to follow on

Race Yr 5/6 - to follow on

Refreshments and toilet facilities will be in the Cricket Club. 

At the end of the event there will be a presentation of medals and shields. Medals will be awarded to the first three boys and girls in each race. There will also be a team shield for the fastest four runners (2 boys and 2 girls) per school per race. 

The event is open to any child in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 who would like to compete.


Monday 13th February at Carlisle Rugby Club - 1pm-2.30pm

Leaving school just after lunch and returning before the end of the school day. No special arrangements need to be made but as the games will take place on grass, please provide boots if you have them, or old trainers, as they will probably get very muddy. In addition, your child will need drinks and other refreshments. They will also require clothing appropriate to the weather so make sure they have warm clothing. 


William Howard Gymnastics Competition - Tuesday 7th February 2017 - 10.30am-11.45am

As the competition is taking place in school time, no special arrangements need to be made regarding the collection of your child. However, we will require help with transport, please let us know if you can help. 


Thursday 19th January 2017 - 3.45-5pm

Children in Years 3 & 4 have the opportunity to attend a basketball festival at William Howard School on their school astro turf pitch. Numbers are strictly limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. You must arrange your own transport to and from the event. 

The Basketball Festival will promote:

Skills and games based on developing basketball skills within groups and small game type situations. 

Boys and girls of all abilities welcome, mixing with children from other schools. 

Teams will be created on the day using children from different schools, encouraging social interaction.

Hockey Festival - Years 3/4 at William Howard School - an opportunity to learn skills and games based on developing hockey within groups and small game type situations. Boys and girls of all abilities welcome, mixing with children from other schools. Activities will take place on the Astro Turf Pitch at WHS.
